Clinical

  • membranous inflammation of upper respirator tract

  • involvement of other tissues

    • myocardium

    • periperhal nerves

  • humans = only known host

  • gradual onset 1-2d

    • mildly painful tonsillitis with associated greyish membrane

      • suspected if membrane involves ulvula and soft palate
  • complication = respiratory obstruction
